Welcome

Welcome to our busy, project-based learning and maker-empowered focused Library/Media Center. We serve all staff and students from TK through 5th grade. Providing information literacy, digital citizenship, computer coding, keyboarding, and of course, story time, and a wide variety of literacy activities. Students will also participate in Makerspace activities such as robotics, 3D printing, engineering activities, video production, and STEAM reading kits.

Makerspace

School library/Media Centers are becoming more than books, computers, internet and expertise in information literacy. In addition to all of these important offerings Library/Media Centers are Makerspaces. Makerspaces bring together students in active hands-on learning, exploration, creativity, critical things communication and collaboration. Supporting both Next Generation Science Standards and English Language Arts standards.

Encyclopedia Britannica (PreK-12)

A comprehensive interactive resource for research and learning for grades K-12. Includes correlations to California Content Standards and other valuable teacher resources. Post links directly to each school level, elementary, middle, or high.

TeachingBooks (PreK-12)

One stop provides resources for books you are reading and teaching, including author and illustrator interviews, lesson plans, and other enrichment content.

Gale (Grades K-5)

Gale STEAM resources provide essential, curriculum-aligned digital content for California K-5 learners.

California Young Reader Medal

The California Young Reader Medal program encourages and promotes recreational reading. It exposes our students to a variety of genres and writing styles. Each year students in grades one thru five participate in this program. We read each nominated primary title, discuss the book and then the students have an opportunity to vote electronically for their favorite title. Students in upper grades also have the opportunity to read and vote for a Picture Book for Older Readers and Intermediate nominees.

School Library Catalogs provide access to our print and digital books. The District is committed to providing the most current resources to support the curriculum and promote life long readers. TVUSD uses Destiny, an online library management system.

Device Insurance

OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED

TVUSD is happy to offer students and their families device insurance. We know that things happen and so we offer insurance to give you peace of mind knowing that you're covered should something occur.

Cost: $30 per device for the 25-26 school year

Opportunities to Purchase Device Insurance

SY 2025/2026: May 23, 2025 - OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS

School Business Days - OPEN TO ALL NEW STUDENTS

Device insurance is available for purchase to all NEW students to the district (including Kindergarten and students in grades 6-12 who receive a brand new iPad that did not opt in). No device inspections are needed as students are provided a new or already inspected device.

Device insurance is purchased through the TVUSD webstore.
Purchasing window opens: August 1, 2025
Webstore closes: August 31, 2025

After Labor Day - Begins September 2, 2025 - OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS

Anyone interested in device insurance can purchase insurance at their site with a device inspection. New students can also purchase insurance at the site without an inspection for 2 weeks after a device is checked out to them.
